I’m Kathryn Adams
Principal UX & Graphic Designer | Designer Educator
I’m a Principal UX & Graphic Designer with experience designing digital and visual systems in complex, service-oriented environments. My work centers on clarity, accessibility, and human-centered decision-making—especially in contexts where users navigate high-stakes, time-sensitive, or emotionally charged experiences.
I approach design as both a problem-solving discipline and a listening practice. I work closely with stakeholders to understand user needs, constraints, and organizational realities, translating that insight into thoughtful information architecture, intuitive interfaces, and cohesive visual systems.
My professional background spans UX and visual design across healthcare, finance, education, and service-based organizations. I’ve contributed to large-scale digital platforms and smaller, highly specialized systems—often in regulated or sensitive environments where clarity and trust are essential. Across these projects, my role has consistently focused on research-informed design decisions, accessibility considerations, and iterative refinement.
Through my independent design practice, Funeral Studio Pro, I apply UX and graphic design principles within emotionally complex service environments. This work has strengthened my ability to design with empathy, simplify complex information, and create experiences that feel calm, respectful, and accessible for users.
Alongside my professional practice, I teach digital media and interface design at the university level. Teaching has strengthened my ability to articulate design rationale, mentor emerging designers, and stay grounded in usability standards, accessibility guidelines, and evolving design tools. Education informs my work—not as a separate track, but as an extension of my design thinking.
At the core of my work is the belief that good design should reduce friction, support understanding, and respect the user’s context. I’m especially drawn to projects where thoughtful design can make complex systems feel more humane and approachable.
